Default Sidestand wobble

on a 2009, the side stand seems less than confident. It slips to a second position after the weight of the bike settles on it. There's a lot of play in the hinge, but the bolt seems completely tight. Could the hinge just be bent? Is a hammer the remedy? I attached a short vid and a still showing a slack hinge.

Thanks,
Tom

Can put a washer in there to take up some of the play

Yeah that’s the way I went. Found the thinnest nylon washer I could find, sanded it down to the right gauge and voila. Fixed.

I’ll spend $50 for a replacement if this proves to have some unforeseen complication or suffers early failure.

I have that same kind of play on my 1967 Bultaco Sherpa T and 95 KLX650. No big deal, just wear and maybe slight wedging open. I think my 09 250 has similar play as well. When I put the bike on the stand it is a bit too upright I kind of rock it slightly and it slips a bit to lean a shade more. Maybe tomorrow I'll look at it. 50,000 miles and about 22 years on the 650 with a lot more weight and no problems. As long as you don't sit on the bike while on the side stand you should never have an issue.

I do like to sit on the bike when it's at rest on the stand.

It was just unsettling when parking next to other bikes, when I'd get halfway off the bike and it would sort of lurch at me... I didn't want to knock someone else's bike over because I was too cheap or lazy to have a bike that I could step off with confidence. Now I can relax. Which is good.

You may need to replace the nylon spacer on occasion. I will say be careful, sitting on the bike with full weight on it. From what I've read, some riders have had the side stand bracket on the bike crack and break at the frame. Not a god thing. That long bracket apparently puts a fair amount of leverage on the weld area. It is fairly big because it had the stand switch on it. So be careful putting too much weight on the side stand. It's not real beefy in the tab attachment.

I only put some weight on it when I mount and dismount the bike, but I lean over the bike a bit more when doing so to put most weight on the bike rather than the stand, knowing that thing about possible breakage.

I'm 6'2" and built like a muscular broom stick. I weigh (about) 150 pounds... but I'll keep my eye/*** on it.
I know the nylon won't last, but without a bench grinder, or even just a mounted belt sander, I didn't have three days to sand down a stainless or aluminum washer.
Eventually I'll get a new(ish) stand to replace this unevenly worn one... t

Speaking from experience, you will break the kickstand, not the mount.
I weigh the same as you and always sat on my bike with the stand down and also used to climb on by stepping on the left peg, not to mention the kickstand chain lube method...after breaking my kickstand I don't do any of those things anymore.
I learned the hard way a dirt bike stand isn't built the same as a road bike stand, the stand is amazingly thin walled steel.
