There are several interlocks on the starter..., clutch (if in gear), kickstand, kill switch.
Sounds like you may have mulitiple problems, as if those switches are active, it will not start nor run.
Once running, they will not make it run bad, only shut it down. I don't know about why it wouldn't start, but the other sounds like a carb issue.
When you hit the starter, do you hear a clunk when it don't turn over?

So, your front light is on and you hit the starter and .... nothing. Maybe some raddle? Does the lights dim? (try it at night or in a garage)
Is it intermittant problem? Like after it runs for 20 min, or issue from some point in time and aways since?

yea front light and dash is on but won’t crank until i push it around. I have not checked if the light dims when I try to start. No the rattling starts as soon as the bike starts and then the bike will turn off on it’s own after about 2 minutes

Doesn't sound good. I was thinking carb issue, but that rattling may be cam chain. If it was really loose it may jump a cog, i don't know. Why would it not turn over though.
I had a starter issue, but I was getting a big clunk when you hit the button, then it locked up. Doesn't sound like the same thing. If it is rattling after you start it, constantly, I would pull the valve cover and see if the cams are in time, especially if the cam chain is loose when you get in there.
