Default Shut of while riding. Will not crank until I push the bike around a bit

So i was riding home from work and my bike completely shut off on the highway going 70mph. At firdt i thought a co-worker had turned my pea **** to off but that wasnt the case. It would not crank while i was on the shoulder, eventually it started up again just to turn off on me a couple more miles down the road again. When it would idle way it was idling lower than usual and shut off as son as i let off the gas.

Anobody have any suggestions on what my problem could be?

Check the carb vent lines. Sometimes they get pinched or melted by exhaust pipe.

If it won't crank you should check for electrical issues, possibly a broken/shorted kill switch.

^ good point.

IKLXG, can you clarify "not crank" please? Does that mean the starter would not turn the motor over? Or does it mean the motor was turning over, but not starting?

When it shuts down the display stays on, but starter will not turn over until I rock the bike back and forth quite a bit. When I do get the bike to turn on it idles way lower than normal

carb vent lines look good but I have smelled burned plastic a time or two but couldn’t find where it was coming from. I’ll have to check it out

Never been swimming that I know of. I just purchased the bike second hand 3 months ago with 9,000 miles for $1,100 so I don’t mind fixing a couple of things here and there
