This shouldn't break

I then used a dremel to grind the corner of the axle holder so I could put the bolt back on what remained of the stud. At least that solved my immediate problem but I'll try to remove the stud and replace it with a long bolt and cut the head off as WestOz suggested.
So again, is the stud a bolt threaded on both ends? Here's a pic of the temporary fix.

Haaahh! That's about right HeavyFuel. Just wait 'till I do a write up on my fix for the broken rear hub on my KDX.
By the way, the seatbelt guy should have closed the door on the belt instead of using the window. Some people huh?

Right on! Reminds me of the time when I was about 15, I did a home "port job" by running a giant drill bit through the intake port on my Yamaha QT50 (two stroke) moped. Engine had no power after that. Or the time we put a friend's YZ400 front drum brake hub back together with JB Weld. Or the time.... I'm hijacking. I'll stop now

I was able to take out broken stud with vice grips. Backed right out.
And I would advise against using straight up bolts.. That is aluminum they're going in. If you keep taking them out and putting them in you risk stripping the holes... Then you will need to drill/tap the forks, or replace them all together..

found the correct part.
BTW.. My kawi dealer couldn't look up a standard exhaust stud 6x35. they said without a part number.. no go.
So.. found and exhaust stud off a honda CRF 70 or something 31x6 picking a couple up tonight.
