Should petcock turn fuel off?
2009 KLX250S
Weird question I know, but I've been round and round with different petcocks (Suzuki I'm looking at you!)
Here's the situation, I need to change the fuel line from the petcock to the carb also I am adding a new inline filter.
So I turn the petcock to off, pull the line and fuel just keeps coming out. If I turn it to on or res, then it REALLY flows!
So now when everything is back together I have a constant drip of fuel from the hose on the bottom of the carb bowl.
This can't be normal, right?
Thanks

This is not normal. Two problems you may have. A failed petcock, obviously, and float problem in the carb. This may be a non-sealing needle in the seat, a stuck float (tap on the carb bowl somewhat gently with the plastic handle of a screwdriver to see if it will unstick), or a mis-adjusted float.
