Shorai - hurray
Just installed the Shorai battery. That thing is amazing. bike was stubborn to start (was sitting quite a while. I would crank it, wait for about 2 minutes, crank again...etc. until she fired up. Anyway, the battery gets stronger the more use use it (up to a point of course). I heard LI ion does that, but was cool to experience it. Instant weight shed too.... it is real light.... Now if she lasts as long as they say (twice as long), I just invested in what would be another future battery early.. thats all.

Yes they are lithium iron and they do work better as they heat up. If it is cold out and the battery seems a little sluggish they say to turn on your head light for a while to warm the battery up and then start your motor. I am pretty happy with mine, especially with the weight savings. about 120 bucks.

I hope this is just an issue with your battery, I really like the idea of shedding some weight and having the starter crank over better.

I hope anyone with a stock battery gets the value out of theirs like I have with mine. November of 05 and 15,500 miles, and its still as strong as it was on day one. I'm sure its because I have plugged it in once a week for all these years. On the other hand, my wife's XT 225 needed a new battery after 5 months even though I plugged it in one day a week as well. Really batteries are a crap shoot, but that battery you got and the technology sounds interesting. Thanks for posting this.

Mine did this until I added an extra ground wire to my rectifier! BTW, about a month after I added this wire, I switched to a Lithium battery. I forget the brand, but, it wasn't Shorai, and the resetting to zero has not resurfaced.

Good idea. It was inconvenient last weekend in Death Valley to not have any trip odometers. Only way I knew when I was approaching my fuel limits was the GPS.

Did you get the 135, or the 210 cold cranking amps model?
