To be seen or not to be seen, that is the question

To be seen or not to be seen, that is the question
Well admittedly I was one of the first to get rid of the stock blinkers, I mean I wanted that "cool" look to the bike, but everytime I rode I felt like people were just not seeing me. And yes I realize that unless our bikes were on fire, we pretty much go unnoticed by Joe Blow in a cage.
After work today I decided to spend some time with the bike and get some cleaning (big surprise there huh?) done on the KLX. I started with a light pressure wash and ended up pulling the chain, detailing the bike and reinstalling all 4 of the stock blinkers. I think it looks good and will continue to grow on me. I left the other blinkers on, after all I figure if 4 are good, then 8 must be better right?[8D]
After using this:
My bike looks like this again:
Chain taking a bath:
Ok here is where it gets interesting, I set the camera on the setting that allows me to take, without a flash, 3 pictures per second. As you can see from this first one that the Acerbis turn signal is not very bright, and probably 1/5 that bright in the daylight.
Now take a look at the stock turn signal.
Here is a shot from the back.
A little shrink tube and we are back in business.
Last shot.
Well that's it, I guess I just got one of those bugs and had to do something about it. And the bike is clean again so I can sleep tonight.

I do not like the stock blinkers either yet they are on my bike because as far as being seen goes, you will not find anything better. If I just used it to connect trails that would be one thing but I just do too much street.

The one thing I don't like about the stock blinkers is how far they stick out especially in the rear. I'm going to see if I can shorten the rubber mounting stem by about 1.5 to 2 inches. I'll let you know what happens.

good luck shortening the stems, I looked at it but decided against it as #1-the threaded sleeve is molded to the foot of the stem, and #2-the sleeve is not threaded entirely, just at the end where it needs to be...soI just ordered other signal lites. But please let us know if you succeed.

YIPPIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Maverick just taught this old dog a new trick. I never learned to make the long links for URL addresses a short link named whatever you want it to be. Isn't this a great deal, a guy that I never met, teaching me all the way from the land down under. How awesome is that. OK I guess I'm just excited to actually learn something after being here for 2+ years. Or maybe its just the codeine talking, either way its AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Alllllllllllllllllllllllrighty then! as you were.
