Talking Saturday ride, north Georgia mountain trails

Well, this is my first ride report on Kawi forums.

Some friends and I headed out to Tate City, a literal out in the middle of no where town with a population of about 30 people in extreme north Georgia on the Ga/NC line. The forest service road that leads to this town is breathtaking. The whole road follows the Tallulah River with picturesque waterfalls and river rapids for most of the length of the road. Lots of wonderful camping sites and from what I hear, dynamite trout fishing.

Toward the end of the FS road is a turn off to the left through the river with a trail starting up on the other side that goes for probably 10 miles. Lots of rocks, whoops, creek crossings and we even crossed the Appalachian Trail at Dicks Gap. Beautiful adventure ride today. Around 120 miles round trip from the house and back.

This is a link of me crossing the Tallulah River. I stalled twice because there was a softball size rock in front of my back tire that I had no idea was there!

Enjoy,
