Sargent Developing a Seat for KLX250
A few years back I corresponded with Sargent early in the development of their excellent World Seat for the KLR650, then later did a review on it for DSN. I then bought one for my KLR650 and would not ride any distance without it. It's that good.
I received an email a few weeks ago from Sargent saying they are responding to customer requests for making seats for several more dualsport bikes, ours is one, and another is the DRZ400 and KLX400SR is another. (BTW, I also have a KLX400SR and can tell you the seat really hurts me after only 2 hours, so this development is welcome news).
The new seats will not just be different foam and covers, but complete with foam and cover in a flared-out shape that will provides significantly more butt and under-thigh surface contact area to reduce monkey butt.
Mary at their R&D group asked me if I knew about the availability of an older KLX250 as the seat is different than the newer model. A 2006 like mine, for example. The bike should be somewhat local to Jacksonville, FL. They have secured the newer model but need the older model. I know of no one local to them having one, so I offered to post this request here.
If any of you are near Jacksonville, have the older model, and don't mind lending your bike to them for a bit, and want to help out in the develoment process, please contact Mary, thanks.

I don't know what these particular Corbin seats are like, but I had one for a road bike that had a resin-rich fiberglass pan. Feel-wise it was good, but it was crude and the fit was off. Sargent molds thermoplastic pans just like the OEMs. That's a more expensive way to do it and produces a precise fit and is light.
I'm curious how the Corbin for KLX is built and how much it weighs.

Isn't that what Renazco does, builds his seat on an oem pan the customer sends?
I just took my '09 Corbin out of the box two hours ago. looks well made but its heavy, at least a pound or two more than stock. Pan does look to be made from resin with some chopped glass in it.
