SW Mototech pegs, big bucks, but what you may want.

Could buy an insert and try to fit to the Kaw peg, they do sell separate. Or get a really thick heavy chunk of rubber and cut your own.

my concern with the really wide pegs is clearance between the peg and the shifter....already borderline for me ergonomically in stock config.

does there exist something akin to rearsets for this bike to move them back a hair?

I don't have an answer for that. I don't know where my KLX250 OEM pegs are so I don't know if there is the possibility to trim those rubber inserts down and fasten them on the OEM pegs, but that might be possible.

One other option is to buy the KLR650 OEM pegs, they are rubber pegs. If you look at accessory pegs and they show the KLR650 and KLX250 on the same part number that would mean the OEM would fit your bike.

Don't need "rearsets" how about foot pegs that pivot? So they rotate forward to get your foot under the lever. If only such a thing existed. If only someone could post something like that. Oh wait ....... I already did

I KNEW I'd seen those before. That means good news for the OP.

That is the exact same foot peg as used on all KLX250S and SF from 2009 up. I did a part check on Partzilla, who lists all fits. Odds are they will fit the pre-09. Probably the difference is the hole to bolt in the rubber pad.

Here is a link to the page at Partzilla. All the OP needs to do if they own an 09 or newer is buy the rubber pads and the bushings to fit them, and the bolts - $5.60 each and $3.10 each two needed, along with two M6-1.00 x 20mm bolts.

Just found my stock 09 pegs, have holes in the plate in the center of them where the rubber pad insert would bolt in. Definitely the best choice.
