Risks of lowering
#21
I lowered my bike 1 inch couple weeks after purchase
im tall and had no problems touching the ground but was used to riding much lower bikes for a couple years now and just wanted that same feeling
I notice alot in large dips I bottom out, and by bottom out im wearing into that black chain roller wheel alot not, I think thats the awful noise im hearing when I hit a dip
I think I may add more load to the spring maybe everything is breaking in in only around 2000 miles on the bike
I also lowered the front luckily the max I could do was 1 inch so at least the bike sits the same level as stock, just 1 inch lower
one thing to think about any lower side stand wont work as well
mine is already pretty straight now so I have to make sure how I park it on slight hills
I know there are links to go to around 3 inches, and come with new side stands
and links that are turnbuckles so you can super fine tune it to whatever height you want
which may not be a bad idea if you dont know what you really want, but those are like $80
where my 1 inch links were around $30
going to attemp to get my go pro and get some footage of the suspension working today
maybe a before and after just so I can see where im bottoming out at
if I do I will post here

did a quick video
first shows stock settings on the shock
then later in the video I tightened the spring nut 3 times
looks to have helped alot following the same exact path

I really appreciate everything that everyone has informed me about and the knowledge I've gained. I think right now I will do the ride it and see if I can get use to it, seeing as I'm still new to the game of dual sport bikes. I'm not uncomfortable with the bike at all, but I believe it is possible to become even more comfortable with it, and that is my goal.
