Such a crappy thing to have happen. Why don't they check for these things more often?

I was down there when Danny Hamel was killed by a Mexican policeman going the wrong way on the course. Tragic to know a man made obsticle took the life of a racing legend. RIP Kurt

Prerunning the entire racecourse would be impossible to do right before the race, locals to the area are responsible for the booby traps. But that is Mexico...

Last I heard , they are saying that it was not necessarily a booby trap. Possibly hit an animal.
Sad story either way.

Yeah, it's sounding like it was just an accident at this point...though booby-traps and spectator obstacles aren't too unusual. I sure enjoyed Caselli at this year's Dakar. The guy was good now, but he had a bigger future ahead from what I could tell. A real shame.

Yeah the next riders thru found evidence of an animal that Kurt probably hit at speed. Starting the bikes/quads at night must have been a challenge also!

I hate it when reality rears it's ugly head. Very tragic event and a terrible loss to the sport. Godspeed Mr. Caselli.
