I have noticed that a lot of times an inner tube will be fused tot he inside of a tire, or there are ***** of rubber inside as well. That is from friction and heat which talc will help prevent that from happening. I also did not like the way that the stem was really tight in the hole in the rim. I may enlarge that slightly as well, to allow the stem to move a bit.

Very nice write-up, NoBrakes! How do you like the MRP tire changing stand? I've been thinking about getting one too.

Ever try to take pics for a write up like this? Its alot of work, and time. Props man. I install tires differently, I put the entire wheel inside the tire. beads on either side of the wheel. then put one bead on. then tube.

Thanks fellers. I really like that tire changing stand. I've had it for a number of years, I think he has made a few additional improvements to the design since I bought mine. It definitely makes changing tires easier, and is easy on the back.

I'll have to try your method, Eric. I never thought of doing it that way.

BTW, I got 8th out of 28 in my class in the race yesterday. Had I not got held up in a bottleneck on the first lap and held up by some slower riders I was on pace for 3rd or 4th place. That's pretty good for me.

This is kinda how i do it but i do it on the floor. Its surprisingly easy and fast. Once the tire is on the outside of the wheel you can just pull the wheel right out. I install them the same way.

I've seen that video a couple of times, and each time I'm amazed. For his next video, I want to see that guy change a hardened, crusty old TrakMaster in the same amount of time.

Thanks - excellent explanation and pics. I found the picture on the 'un-set' bead especially helpful.
