Default Ride Report - Ride Lost Trails - GOT MUD??

NOTE: i used thumbnails so that the full size of the picture is maintained without stretching your browser across the street with the sizes of the untouched pics, also quality is maintained... just click the thumbnails and the following pics a couple of times to get the true pics size and quality.

2 months of straight rain.i wonder what the trails will be like?..........
packed up the night before and ready to roll

yes they had mad gnarly single track. kicked my ***!!

made for a convienent rest stop though.

parking lot pics:

sign in area.. dont forget your waiver!!

large play areas.. jumps, open ponds, rainbow piles etc etc. also looked like they were in the process of building a little track.

notice in the back ground the MONSTER double.

got mud? i think i had my fill today of it

the way they had the park setup was to use the polelines that ran through it as a backbone with most trails running off of it. heres the main entrance to the poleline

another shot of the poleline from a ridge

the deer were fearless!! they must be used to all the traffic and never getting hunted...

yummy wet, muddy, slimy roots with mud and rocks thrown in for the icing... tasty stuff.

lots of technical and basically gnarly trails for all those that like a challenge

heres a nasty little mudhole we came up on. on the map its marked simply "mud"

some clips from the mudhole.

this trail was called "widow's peak". joe went down it first and i wasnt to nervous about it till he started psyching me out with a bunch of dire warnings about it.. i was nervous as hell by the time i went down it. lol
top looking down:

best perspective to how nasty it really was... had alot of nice jagged rocks sticking up out of it also.. wiping out was not an option

this trail was called "bedrock"... something or other.. featured nasty loose shale type climbs with dog legs half way up the hills... fun stuff. (notice the red arrows on the trees)

video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rH0b-Mbudsk

all packed up and ready to go home. (at this point i was looking forward to it)

we had a blast all in all. i did get my *** handed to me on a number of occasions though. i was running D606's that were 50% at best.. it was a handful in all that mud and i had to pick the machine up a number of times.. my shins look like hamburg from the pegs grindin on em as i tried to save the bike from hitting the ground... joe has some more pics. ill get em up soon as he sends them.. he has one from a large puddle that i went through the middle that tried eating me and the machine...

Thanks for the pics and videos, looked like some challenging conditions. I bet Joe wishes he was wearing some waterproof boots.

Good stuff, jsac, looks like some fun riding. Those trails with the bigger but loose rocks are the worst, teeter tottering and slipping around underneath you, I remember doing a long steep trail like that at Hatfield McCoy, it was a double-black quad trail and it was tough to get up, I was way winded at the top. I'm sure them being wet and slick didn't help any.
