And that pretty much sums of the advancement of them in the last 20 years?

2. Republican or Democrat
3. What is the meaning of life?

Have a good Easter everybody...

Because people keep buying them! R & D costs money, retooling costs money. If the market will continue to purchase the "same old tired technology", why make it better? I would love to have fuel injection and the best alloy (or composite) frame, but it's a big world out there. Steel is cheap, CV carbs are cheap. Build it cheap and sell it all over the world! That's good business!

On another note. Look at Pep Boys, they sell dirt bikes that on the face of it don't look so bad and they are far less expensive than the bikes the big four offer.

Well, maybe all of these cheap Chinese bikes and atv's you see on every cornerwill nowspur some kind of technological growth.
Because to the average no nothing about motorcycles American, why would you spend alot more money on a Japanese bike if there basically the same as a half price Chinese one.
Kind of like when the Japanese cars really came here in the mid 80's it absolutely forced the American cars to get better.
Everybody laughed at the Japanese cars, then the Korean cars and now I here there starting to Import Chinese cars.
Mike I really don't know why there hasn't been any big advances in bikes over the last 20 years, probably the lack of competition from other manufacturers. Outside of the big four.Maybe the invasion of cheap *** bikes will force the Japanese bikes to become better now.
And my opinion on the last three questions.
1.The American Indian's- the sun giver of all life.
2. Neither! Independent all the way (whoever I feel is going to hurt me the least).
3. To have Love and Fun before you Die.

RE: Riddle me this!
Ok so the only thing that this thread sums up is, that a "highly advanced" Quote: (So I spend $6000.00 on a sled and get Batteryless Fuel Injection, Oil injection, knock sensors, exhaust sensors, electonically controlled power valves, throttle positioning sensors, engine temp sensors,3 dimensional spark ignition mapping, digital readout, with 20 or so displays, (engine temp, fuel level,hr meter,3 tripmeters, odometer, clock, even outside air temp, and on and on) electronic reverse where the engine slows to almost a stop and then starts back up in reverse, and say 225 pounds more raw material, including alot more aluminum.)
two stroke 600cc snowmobile enginethat should technicaly be producing twice as much power than a four stroke of the same displacementdue to a power stroke every revolution is only making about as much power or less than a 600cc four stroke sportbike motor. That doesn't sound too advanced to me.
And your right about no major advancements with dirtbikes over the last 20 years. I forgot this years supercross winner was riding a 1988 kx250. Oh wait, that was the 1988 champion that the riding the 1988 bike. Surely this years winner must have wasted a ton of money on there current ride when they could havepicked up a 1988 mx two smoker in the local bike trader for $600 and been just as competitive since the bikes haven't advanced over the last 20 years.
