The sprockets only get like that from a worn/stretched chain. If you turn the sprocket around, the teeth will break off like someone above said. Also, you shouldn’t replace the sprockets with new ones without replacing your chain with a new one. Same with, never put a new chain on old sprockets. The sprockets and chain all need to be replaced at the same time. A quality O or X Ring chain is the way to go. Little extra cost, but turns out to be a lot cheaper in the long run. Go with a quality brand chain, Diamond, DID, EK or RK. You can get well over 10,000 miles on a chain and sprocket set if you clean and lube on a regular basis.

Best bet - run the chain/sprockets a bit longer while you save for new sprockets and chain.

I agree.....^^^ That counter sprocket isn’t all “That” bad. You can get a “little” more out of it. Just keep the sprockets and chain clean and well lubed in the meantime. I wouldn’t be reving and dumping the clutch though, take it easy with it. The last thing you’d want to happen, is have your chain let go and bunch up at the counter sprocket cracking your engine case or bending or breaking the counter shaft. I’ve seen this way to many times in my days working at dealerships.
