RE: retro fit electric starter kit for klx 300
Doesn't the 300 come with a kick start?
Am I confused, do you mean electric start or do those bikes not come with a kick start either. That's just plain crazy if they don't. I can understand it on the 250 as it's suppose to be more for the road.
If you go to the Kawi web site they usually have the full diagram of the bike and somewhere in there they will have the part number(s). For the 250s you can buy one part number that is a kit.

RE: retro fit electric starter kit for klx 300
About 3 years ago I identified the KLX300 as the ultimte bike for me. More oomph than the comparable 250s out there, such as the XR250. Some MX inspired design -- liquid cool vs. air cooled, e.g. Not as big as the 450s (weight, power, etc). But, no e-start and I just can't fathom getting a 4-str without e-start in this era. Looked into that and, as posted above, it's around $1,850. The motorcycle was around $4,600 at the time. So, KLX + e-start = $6,500 + install. Or you could get a KTM 450 EXC for about the same! Just didn't add up. I could never make sense of the ~$2,000 cost to add e-start to the KLX. I still think that the e-start is the only thing preventing Kawi from creating another niche. Show me the other 300 cc 4-str woods bike out there. Should have put this on the bike 4 years ago and, as shown by the KLX250, Kawi can apparently add the e-start at a fairly cost-effective price.
Lots of people have found that the 450 is just too much bike. My dad just went from a KTM 450 to a 300 2-str and loves the weight diff (I know, apples and oranges). A 450 is also intimidating to new riders, but a 230/250 might seem a little underpowered and new riders may fear that they'll outgrow it after a season or two. A 300 4-str is just a really good idea, I think. Maybe I should write a letter to Kawi.

that would be great if kawasaki made a kit for the 300's.My 300 is finally starting to come around,iI did the forks and will be doing the shock soon new spring and gold valve.changed the bars, changed the exhaust, and the gears.so i'll be jetting the carb.i really like riding the klx, here in Hawaii it's really challenging riding the klx.but the bike is really good in the trees,as in the forest.
