Default Replacing chain links

Hey all. Back when I changed out my chain, and I was cutting some liks off, I tried to dremmel a link off at the rolling pin part (don't know the proper lingo) It didnt even come close to cutting, just spun a bunch and put a very small groove in it.

Anyway I figured out the proper way to remove links, but the little groove remains and will probably cause problems down the road.

Anyway I have the extra links saved from the chain, and it came with a spare too. I found a tool like this that seems to be what I need:

http://www.denniskirk.com/jsp/produc...tId=&mmyId=

Seems expensive though, anyone got a solution?

I got this tool from my Dad many years ago (it was his from when he used to race flat track on harleys).

I have no idea where to get another one but you might be able to find something like it.

This tool also is good for helping the press the master link on.

I've seen little gadgets like that. Does it rivet chains though?

Yes, I cut down a rivetted chain for my KLX. However, first I ground down the heads of the rivet with a dremel tool (probably only needed to grind down one side though) and then used this tool pressed out the shaft of the rivet far enough to grab it with some pliers.

That one from dk? It looks pretty good, problem is I'll probably only ever use it a couple times.
