Replacement carburator
For off road riding, the delay in the CV carburator just isn't cutting it. Its those times you encounter an obstacle and you want to snap the throttle and lift or at least lighten the front wheel to get over it.
I see many of you who have installed a big bore kit also replace the carburator.
Would the same carb work on the standard 250cc bore?
Would it give that instant responce I'm looking for?

did a poor mans pumper, installed a quicker throttle and geared lower. Stole the magura 314 off my ktm and it fit so bought one for the klx. It didn't cost much. $25
No it's not a pumper, but yes it makes a big difference compared to the stock street bike throttle.

I recently installed the BB Mikuni TM33/34 Pumper on my 250. I really like it. Even with the pumper the bike will never really wheelie without the clutch and you are never going to get a power hit like a 2-smoke. That being said, the bike now has more snap, runs like a raped ape (feels like it picked up 50 CCs!), runs and revs smoother, and the bike sounds great (similar to an old British thumper). The pumper is not supposed to increase the HP but it sure feels like it did! The fun factor definitely has gone up a notch or two. I am very happy with the results.

Is that what it is? I have never owned a bike that was as hard to wheelie as the KLX. The way my bike runs now, it should easily loft the front with the flick of the right wrist, but it doesn't. I used to have a XT225 that my modded KLX could spank beyond belief in power yet the XT225 wheelied much easier.

I don't need to do wheelies anymore (70 yrs old), but I also didn't like the weight bias on my KLX, and I have pretty long legs, so I moved the foot pegs back and down to help when I need to lighten the front end. All it took was a couple pieces of scrap angle iron, drill press and a welder.

It's really pretty easy to mod your bike for very little money. and no special tools.
I built my luggage rack w/pannier supports for about $40,
windshield for approx $15,
radiator/engine guards for under $50,
but saver for less than $10,
2 liter fuel carrier $2
skid plate for under $20, etc, etc,

Hey John - I like the butt saver.
I read your description but have a question for you. How did you attach the 2 halves of the bar cover to the vinyl?
Looks like a great idea. I have a sweetcheeks laying around but it makes the seat way too wide. Your version only increases the width by 2-3" which is just about right.
