If you perfer a crossbar I use a set of Renthal twin wall fat bars. They are low bend on pro taper adapters. They end up being about a half inch higher then stock and a controls and cables fit just fine.

Then do the MCM cam mod and go from there. I'm still in good shape but at my age I have the fear, so more subdued these days.
Cool, since 1969 myself. Sure you'll pass. Just no showboat'n...... Enjoy the bike.

Thanks again for the advice all! I see the front fork compression damping clickers are 12 clicks out, stock. I'm guessing two more clicks out (counter clockwise) would lessen the damping and turning the clickers clockwise would increase the damping, slowing the action?

Random thoughts... I checked out your bike mods Bob. Awesome! Not sure if I'll get a pipe. I know Rob Muzzy has been tuning Kawi road racers forever and thinking that a 250 single is much like a cylinder on a 1,000 cc bike. I know Donny Emler started making expansion chambers in the '70's when he started the Flying Machine Factory or FMF. I was wondering if the power bomb pipe was a gimmick when low and behold, I see the 2016 KX's now come with a pipe with the same bulge hehe.

I bought a full handlebar kit, because the stock bars bent from a low side crash. The renthal RC OEM bend bars fit really well! with the protaper universal bar clamps. And the handguards by G2 ergonomics they are good but not great spent $120 on the G2 guards, could have ordered the zeta guards for $110

**sad news, she was found dropped today in the parking lot could be because of the wind as i had the cover on but or some one pushed her As she was dropped when parked the impact on the handguards could be really tough to bare so the G2 hand guards were slightly bend and few thick scratches

That sucks! Sandpaper and a buffing wheel will fix her right up.

Yes, that's correct. I normally go 2 or 3 clicks at a time when fine tuning the damping. I keep adjusting until it passes the perfect spot, then go back. I make notes during each adjustment so I know where it was at it's best setting.
