Mine went MIA after a few weeks. It's kind've a harsh environment underneath the bike - you'd think they'd know better than to put that thing there. I'm guess it is just a half-hearted attempt to meet some gobment regulation requiring mfgs to keep a few drops of oil off the ground. So instead we have debris falling off littering up the place. Two steps forward, one step back.

I went ahead and did the double snorkel mod this weekend...
I also added some extra openings in the bigger snorkel to hopefully improve it a little more.
I noticed on the stock filter element when I removed it that the dirt was concentrated on a small area at the top of the dome, right where the air exited the stock snorkel. Makes sense - the air follows the path of least resistance and so the sides of the filter get used less. So I'm thinking if I make exit holes at various locations, the air will flow into different areas of the filter element.
