Rejet complete on my '09!

Thanks for the input everyone. For now since I already ordered the 09 250 jet kit, I'll go with it, do the rest of the free mods and put on either a Muzzy or two brothers slip-on. I'll see how it goes from there. I've put about 30 miles on it already on wine country back roads and so far I don't think I'd want to change the gearing. I really like it. I think 1st, 2nd and 3rd will be perfect for the OHV parks I ride at in Northern CA.

yeah, makes sense if you're off-road and never on. otherwise, you're screaming the engine at highway speeds, pretty much making the bike a 5-spd. if you haven't ridden an '09, you won't understand. gear ratios have changed.
finger mullet, thanks for validating all my claims. It's hard to play second fiddle ain't it? btw, how's that 340 kit sittin' in your garage? lmao

After riding ~35 miles trail on Saturday, the crappy tires were more of a problem than the gearing. What good does it do to turn more RPMS when your wheel is just spinning

Can't wait to try mine out later this week,my dj kit arrived along with my complete FMF.I'm now running a 13t front and 44t rear works sprocket,Avon road rider tires 90/90-21 front and 110/90-18 rear(should have gone with a 120) The lime green 520 chain looks cool as hell, just waitin for the tecnik front fender to come in and we are going to jet and pipe the bike.

Yeah I wish they recut these gears better. You can tell the 14t is the better choice for road riding, however you can also tell its not suppose to be on the bike. Its hard to pull out in 1st gear with it on. Like putting a normal bike in 2nd gear to pull out. Plus you have to go about 10mph to maintain power, if your on super tight technical stuff that is way too fast. The 13t is probably what should be on the bike as far as gearing goes but it doesnt have enough 'snap' to support it. You have to put in the N1TC needle to go along with it. And the 13T is kinda alright if your just running really really back roads or running around town. But any open road it sucks. I also have a 12T and that is for super super tight stuff. Like four wheeler tight trails that you can't see more than 50 yards ahead of you in the woods style stuff. But again, same problem only worse. Your all in the super low end. And you know, this bike can even pull higher speeds. Even with a 14T I am still tryinig to shift into "seventh gear". It seems to me what needs to happen is keep the 14T on, but recut 1st gear to be lower just to the point where you can pull out on it normally. That should cut the minimum speed down to like 5-8 mph. Much more reasonable than 10mph. Make it more of a "low gear" and make 6th gear taller, much more like an overdrive to get an extra 5mph out of it or so. Because the way it is now it seems you have to make a choice of what sprocket to run and your stuck with it.

They coming soon oz,i'm still waitin on the tecknic front fender to arrive.Thinkin of picking up another 18" rim and lacing it for the front to run a wider and lower tire like the back.I figure a 120/90-18 or a 130/90 for the back and put the 110/90 in the front, either way it's cheaper than a set of 17"s. The 90/90 21 looks nice but think a 110/90 18" would look better on the front
