Bill, I had a fantastic time meeting and riding with you and Nate today. Thanks for the compliments on riding the BRP through the woods. It's a tractor, you know. Yeah, I think I hit a gravity pocket on that one rock. It sucked me right down to the ground. Quickly! Many thanks to Nate for Kick starting my flooded bike. I was getting a bit winded!

Thanks for letting my ride your bike! The 331 kit with the pumper is the way to go man! With the power throughout the RPM range along with the revalved and sprung suspension, it was a blast to ride in the woods. I liked being able to loft the front wheel over rocks and roots as needed. Something I can't do with my free-mod KLX. Very flickable too after coming off the XRR too!

I think we all had a great time and it was good seeing Dave again, our regular riding partner. Let's do it again soon and we'll have to go to Cross Bar Ranch too this spring.

A series of shoots of Nate's friend that had his Ural out there for some riding today. He thought that he might have had the transmission go FUBAR while starting on a rocky climb. After much exploration and advice freely offered, it turned out to be that he had put the thing in reverse gear somehow. Changed to forward mode and all was well again.

I didn't catch Nate's friends name, but he was an Iron Man for riding that thing on the trails at Red River! Nothing like seeing someone pop a sidecar wheel up in the air to clear a narrow trail section. It was humbling.









Climbing way back in the woods. The wind was very calm deep in the woods. We smelled and saw two stroke smoke coming up to this climb. We could tell that they had recently past.

Bill went first.






And then Nate. I thought he was going to loop it at the top, but he bronc rode it back into submission.






Bill and I had climbed to the top of this ridge and turned around to see where Nate was. It was a gnarly climb. It's always steeper than it looks you know.

nice report!! its a whopping 4 degrees here.....

 

I am so jealous. I want to ride so bad...... I got mine out and took it down the road to run it through another heat cycle, it was 35 degrees. [:@]

 

It was 51 degrees when we started at 10:30am and got up to 68 in the afternoon. Best weather so far this year, which made for a great ride.
I rode Shadetree's KLX331 several miles and boy was that an expensive ride as now I want to do some serious power upgrades. When people mentioned that the bigger bore transforms the bike I never took it to heart, until now. It has gobs of power, everywhere in the power band, which made the bike easier and more fun to ride since there was always power in reserve. I've ridden sport bikes for years but I'm fairly inexperienced in the dirt, but this is what I imagine a sport bike with knobbies would feel like. I now know it will take a very long time for my riding skills to improve to a level where I can exploit all that a modified KLX is capable of.

 

Sorry, Dave, but I must take issue with some of what you said. For a guy who has just climbed aboard a dirt bike, you're a mad man! Don't listen to him, guys. He's just trying to lure you into his web...then he'll roost you until you beg for mercy! Even a mud-header didn't dampen his spirits once he got warmed up...

There. Let the record be set straight once and for all...
