Red Hot
Got my plate today so I am mostly legal (take the written test next friday) Took the bike out for a ride after work with GF on board. I happened to look down while in a dark area and noticed the pipe was red. I checked it out under varying conditions and determined it got reddest when runing steady around 4-5K Not just a little red where it comes out the head but good and red around the corner and back to where it tucks in right above the pegs.
I am guessin this indicates I am probably running lean???? But it seems to have power and pull thruout the RPM band. I get some popping when decelerating, mostly under heavy sudden decelariton load. This would be normal as far as I know.
Really the bike has way more power than I expected from reading the old posts.
What I am worried about is
1. If I am lean enough to burn a piston.
2. I searched the forum for cherry red exh as I know I read one post about ti but the only relevant thread that came up was for a bike that would run for 20min get red and then have problems running and starting. Turned otu that bike neeeded a cam chain. & it seems to me like I have a noisy cam chain but I have nothing to compare it too so I may just be smoking crack on that acct.
Completly unrelated I took the seet off and see I dont have an airbox lid. Anyone have one they dont want anymore. We get 7' of rain a year(more than that so far this year)

I am thinking I will need to get a dynajet kit for the FCR. I am just intimidated by the FCR rejetting. I think I would be comfortable with the CVK but adding the air mixture adjustments is just more vairables for me to second guess.

Thanks West Oz Might look into that this weekend if i get a chance. Working today and working on boat tonight so we can go catchin' sunday
So you are thinking that much red is a little too much(Red not fuel)
Would be nice if I can take care of it without a jet kit but want to get one anyway.
BTW is it same jet kit for CVK and FCR? That would be good as I am looking at an 250sf for the GF and common parts are nice.
Cheers, Jim

Would like to get a lid and throw that on. Should richen it up a bit and since I want one anway it seems logical to put the lid on then jet.
Anyone have one they want to get rid of? Snorkle is not neccesasaryly needed as I will probaly put on the KX (or is it KDX) snorkle but I am thinking right now of just going with airbox lid.

Doooode, CRACK is WHACK ! !! HA HA
I kinda agree with them you dont need a lid on the air box. I hit some knee deep water, and hand no issues. Also while technically it "will" richen it up, the throttle response you lose by restricting the air flow will suprise you.
