I am totally ignornat regarding 4 stroke bikes- how often do they need top ends rebuilt etc??? I have heard mixed info on this.

also how many years back can we go for parts on this bike?? I see the "klx" has been around since the 90's.. will parts from those bikes fit the KLX-S???

Bikes like the KLX, XR's DR's etc are almost car like. Change the oil & filter, keep the valves adjusted & ride.

Bikes like the CRF's KXF's RMZ's etc are far more maintenance. Some say they are almost two stroke like in needing rebuilding except its much more expensive & harder to do so.

 

Alot of parts as far back as 94 (when US model was released, other countries may be earlier) fit. Obviously have been changes, ie 250 to 300 for the dirt model, add e start, etc. for the dual sport model, but basically the 250R, 300R, & 250S are about as close as you can find. Several parts are the same but alot of parts are not the SAME but will FITmodel to model too.
