Reading the Iridium Plug?

RE: Reading the Iridium Plug?
Scratch the reading of the plug. In my ride report yesterday I said it felt like I was running out of gas when I was nearly home. Tonight I filled up and only used .98 gallons yielding 62mpg with a 130 main jet. On the way home I repeatedly did slow roll ons and in first through fourth just shy of 3/4 throttle it would start to hesitate and pick up again. If I slowly rolled into it even more it would actually cut out.
For those of you that suggested that it was still lean even with a 130 main, you get the golden carburetor award for the day. I put the airbox lid back on when I got home and took another ride and it was much better, no hesitation, and no surging anywhere in the throttle range. If I was to keep the lid off I think I'd have to mess with the needle position as it seems its just before 3/4 throttle that it leans out too much. For now I have some scrap plastic that I'll make a new airbox lid out of and tune the opening size with that before I touch the stock lid and butcher it.

RE: Reading the Iridium Plug?
I thought i said it was too lean......I'd go to the 132 main with the needle on the 4 clip down....
BUT i also thought you were running another carb? the TM36-?? The one that i ran on the RD as we all talked about needles and mains and clips......are you swapping like mad here?????or just have one that works really well and keep going back to that one when you really, really want to ride...LOL....nothing wrong with that.......I'd do the same thing too but it is alot of work.alot of work for alot of power.....
