What do you wear to keep you dry? I usually bring my HH rain coat and pants but I would like something more durable in the future.

I'm using Frogg Toggs.

Work good, are a good value and it's not like riding in a sauna suit!

+1 on Frogg Toggs. Also pack really small into compression sack. I keep mine stored in the Pelican 1400 mounted on my tail rack. The bagged rain gear only takes up about 1/2 of the available space in the case.

If durability is your goal, though, they do have the weakness of being a synthetic material. They will melt if they hit a hot exhaust header or something. As long as you are just a little bit careful, though, you won't have any problem.

I have already melted the pantleg on my HH. I now have a handfull of rubber bands in my tank bag to keep my pant cuff from whipping around so much. The Frogg Toggs have good sizing choices so I should be able to find something to fit my long legs without being too baggy. Thanks.

Ryan.

Ryan,

What part of your bike did you hit with your pants leg before using the rubber bands? I ask because, since fitting my stock heat shield onto my otherwise naked Muzzy header, I have not had a problem at all. Before that, I had two pair of really nice dress slacks get singed pretty good.

For all I know, you still have the stock header and shield, so this might be useless info, but just in case it applies, I thought you might want to know.

If this does have application, let me know and I will dig up a link to the thread for the heat shield mod.

It is the Muzzy with no heat shield that is burning the pants. I will be getting this soon: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...ayphotohosting
It just keeps getting put lower on the list of needed things. That Brake! tail light seems to have gotten ahead of the heat shield.

Ryan,

I think someone else on this forum has that same carbon fiber shield. If you want a cheap fix that will save you a pant leg or two in the mean time, you might want to read the thread in this link:

Link to Thread on Using Stock Heat Shield w/ Muzzy Exhaust

Several of us have fitted the stock shield to the Muzzy to save our pants. I was not sure if my use of the stock shield was going to be temporary or permanent, but I have decided now that I am going to keep it that way.

Anyway, just a thought.

Chris
