Dash, I was thinking of doing that to the guard I get. One thing is it's easier to clogg up with mud, etc. You'd just have to keep an eye on it in those conditions.

True, but no different than the rad fins getting clogged with mud, and this way, at least if the screen gets clogged, it's still sitting 1/2" off the actual rad, so there would be some airflow left. Because of the screen tho, it's easy to run a gloved hand over it to clean off the bulk of the crap.

Plus it also deflects the small rocks that can make it thru the guard.

Haven't had any problems yet and rads look like new.

Lol I've been know to participate in such activities . I took a closer look at my setup, probably about 2 " between fins and guard.

You're right, it is a good idea to keep an eye on the buildup on the screens. Especially with friends like ours lol

Where did you guys buy your Unabiker guards? I need them for a 2009 KLX250S. Best price I've seen was $115 but no one has them in stock. Amazon only has from 1 vendor, but they are black. I'd prefer plain aluminum since black will look like crap after it's scratched and chipped. Geez, my buddie only paid $85 bucks for his Unabiker DRZ guards. I checked the first 12 vendors on my Google search, including Ebay and Amazon.
