Default Radiator cooling fan question

I have only had my KLX 250S less than a year. Still getting to know it. I noticed a lot more hot air coming from the engine while riding this evening. When i got home I tried to see if I could find a reason for it. Does the radiator cooling fine run constantly or periodically. It wasn't doing anything at idle. Any thoughts?

it runs whenever the coolant temp reaches a pre-determined temp. Probably somewhere around 220 degrees F.

I've only ever had the fan come on twice that I know of. Both once while doing some really low speed technical trail stuff when it was still a dirt bike and one while tuning the pilot circuit after my big bore install. The cooling system on this bike is WAAYYY over engineered and thus results in the fan not turning on very often.

In the year and a half I've had my bike I've only heard the fan kick on once. And that was because I was riding very slow on a hot day for a prolonged period of time.

LOL!...I was thinking the same thing. When warmer weather arrives, I can't wait to get into my Fox riding thong and a nice pair of flip-flops.

But seriously, this is one reason I really appreciate the temp guage in my Vapor panel. You don't ever have to wonder what's going on down there between your legs as far as temps go.

Change anything on the bike? I had removed my fan for a valve check. I put it all back and the wire tie on the nearby harness lodged itself into the fan and fan did not work. I found that after a boilover during a hot day and traffic in the smokies.

Thanks for all the input. I have not changed anything on the bike. Rode it today and it wasn't as hot.

TNC, thanks for the laugh!
