Racetech Question
On Racetech's website they show that the rear shock is a 36mm for the S model and a 44mm for the SF. I think that there must be a misprint because after doing an eyeball measurement of the shock body I'm pretty sure that they are the same. Anyone have a Racetech gold valve on their S and can confirm the correct p/n(SMGV4401-rear and FMGV S2040 for the fork).

That 36mm deal is a typo or such. They are basically the same size shock and the piston size and shock shaft are the same size. The valving shim packs should be different, however, between an SF and an S.

Are you using the kit for the KLX300? The piston types and sizes will be the same for all the KLX250-300 suspension components. The damping combinations in the shim stacks will be the differences. Those part numbers you list are the ones I used for my '06 KLX250S. They were designated for the KLX300, but the '06/'07 250S models have the same travel. The damping shim stack setup will probably be the only change for a shorter travel '09 and later 250S.

I just wanted to verify that the 09+S models have the same shock as all of the others(shim stacks aside). I can get the p/n I listed from ron ayers for a decent price but I also just found out that my AMA membership gets me a 15% discount directly from racetech. I'll give them a call to see what they can do. Thanks for the replies.
