Race Tech Rear Spring Installation

Race Tech Rear Spring Installation
Has anybody installed a Race Tech rear shock spring in a 09+ KLX250s? I ordered just the spring (# SRSP-622864) and it came with one adapter ring which fits but only if you install the spring upside down (large diameter end down) compared to stock. It's almost 1/2" larger at the bottom end that way so, wondering about (swingarm) clearance issues before I go through the trouble.

Yeah, my bike has that spring. I didn't need to mess around with anything to get it fitted. The "trick" that I found to make the whole shock installation process easier was to actually totally remove the linkage at the bottom to I could slide the shock down low enough in the gap for it to be able to line everything up at the top easily. Then I just bolted the linkage back up and set the sag.
I don't think the 6228 series spring has different opening sizes each end and there is no "right way around" as it is a straight-rate spring. I could be wrong though.

I don't think orientation would affect the spring rate either. Mine is 2.50" (64mm) on the one end and 2.37" (60mm) on the other end. The smaller for only about one coil I think. With the adapter collar they supplied the bottom end can slide side to side about .25" (6mm). That would be in the 'upside down' orientation. Not that it matters, but the part no. text reads upside down this way.
Someone mentioned removing the link when taking the shock out, yeah, way easier to work on.
