Quietest pipe for 2009 KLX 250?
#22
I used to have the Big Gun exhuast, too loud. I like the 300KLX better.
I'll check back and if you have trouble PMing me, ask me to contact you and I'll pm you, that might make it easier to figure out...

Bigger muffler, different bike
It sounds then like having more volume (with more packing, I guess) would work. Someone said they adapted a honda CR-450 muffler with good results (i.e., more flow, and quiet). Any other thoughts on other mufflers that might work?

listen to slapdrum. he lives right near you, and i believe has the best answer if you want to stay close to stock, but get some improvement. with the different caps you can put on the klx300 (it has a stock removable cap, unlike the klx250) you can tune the exhaust sound multiple ways, and go from mild (just as quiet as stock) to wide open in under 30 seconds.
use the advanced search button above, and search by my user id, i have pictures of 3 tips that I use with the klx300 - one is the stock, and the other 2 are made from the torn apart klx250).
and if you are patient, you can get a klx300 really cheap. i was the only bidder on an ebay one, 19.95!!

Wabeno was great! It's as easy or challenging as you want it to be. The regular route is plenty interesting but can be done with a 950 Adventure. Some of the hero sections will kick your ***. But you don't have to do them if you don't want to. I was with a group of guys and we went in on one and I didn't know it. Pretty soon the trail got rougher and nastier. Down trees across the trail everywhere with slippery rocks and all kinds of nasty stuff. Then I came upon a fork in the road with a sign that said "This trail is way too easy." and an arrow pointing to the left. I thought it was going to an easier trail. Nope. It went to a beaver swamp full of 3 food deep ruts and boulders the size of the hood of my car. 4 letter words and lots of them. I got through it. I felt like I ran the Boston marathon after that 200 yard section. As long as you don't read the signs wrong, it's a lot of fun.

Good, I didn't want it to be too easy. I like the options, especially if your doing a two day ride like that. Have fun, do the hard stuff, but once your wore out you can bail out to the easier trails. I may be going this coming year, maybe. Do you plan to go the next one?

See post from a few years back.
This works REALLY great.
Had the FMF PB / HMF can. WAY TOO LOUD !!!! "IMO"
Went back to my modified stock muffler with stock head pipe and my ported head w/ the 310cc displacement.
Perfect for me..............
