Default quick question changing stock bars to renthal

on the instruments they have a little "pin" that sticks out and theres a hole in the old bar that it fits into to keep the turn signal/head light/horn from spinning around the bar... did you shave it down or drill another hole? it would be easier to shave it off...

just wondering what you guys did and how its working out for ya

On the KLX shave the pins.

On my street bilke I drilled the bars. Dirt bikes obviosly have alot higher forces on them & crashing is part of dirt riding where as instreet riding it clearly is not. Plus my street bike had a locating pin for throttle--had to make sure that was solid. The KLX does not need a pin for the throttle.

More than you wanted to know right?

You have 2 choices, grind off the pins or drill holes in your new bars, in the right place therefore weakening the bars.

Guess what I did

Hi pie4foou,

just did this last night, just used a razor blade and sliced them off, put all back together, no problems.

Cheers
Chris.

What bars are every using? The stock bars work pretty well as far width and sweep but, standing up that are way too low. Are the KX high bars a good choice?

yeah i just ground em down with the angle grinder for a second. didnt have any grip glue... i used spray paint? anyone else? i heard varnish works too but it seemed alittle messy. anyway i love the way the bars feel compared to the stock ones. up alittle higher feel alittle wider too but i think thats because i bent the crap out of my old ones and just got used to riding them for so long. the left hand was all tweaked inward. and when i stand up now it doesnt feel so low. i was going to buy bar risers but decided i didnt need them once i got the new bars on. also i painted the top plate of my tripple clamp black like the bars so they dont look so goofy.. i really like they way they look i'll be sure to get a picture if wanted
