Default Quick downshift and it stalls

Has anyone else experienced this? I was riding my bike yesterday for only the second time and more than once I was riding along in 4th or 5th and if I had to lock up everything up and downshift to first, and I didn't let the clutch out right away, it stalled. Like if you're on a fast section of trail and you come up to an obstacle or tight turn and jam on the breaks, downshift and coast for a second or two without revving the throttle at the same time, it stalls out. I also found the front break to be lacking, there are a few trees that agree with me too. :-)

Are you sure she's not idling a bit slow?

Yeah, that happened to me. Once it gets warmed up, it idles lower and lower. When it starts doing that, just turn your idle up just a tad, until it stops doing that.

Has happened to me many times and can be annoying. Typically if your jetting is correct turning up the idle on the KLX cures most of the flame-outs. I noticed I don't have quite as many flame-outs with the pumper carb.

hey green,

was it you that posted about the bike acting like that in the trails, at the first 1/4 throttle? I can't remember. And if so, was turning up the idle the fix for the bike wanting to stall then also?..just curious.

Yeah, I think it was me. It was my needle setting. I had it on the 4th slot, and moved it to 2nd and fixed the problems..
I had the problem with the bike stalling after crusing down a road for a while, then I'd let off and begin to gear down and it would just go out, but as soon as I let the clutch out again it was running again of course. I found it to do it when the bike was new, and not so much now.. Or at all.

Shouldn't that be happening?

I mean, if you have the bike in first and let out the clutch, isn't it rather expected of the bike to stall?

Hey Captain,

Just on the front brakes, my first ride they were very spongy but the next ride they were 100% better, maybe there is some glazing or something on the discs when new, once this was gone brakes were fine.

Cheers
Chris.

+1 on the Idle being low. Just turn it clockwise 1/4 turn at a time & retest it until it stops stalling.
