Question for the Clarke owners

Has anyone noticed if the triples hit the tank when the bars are at full turn to one side or the other.
When I full lock to the right I have slight contact, but at full left it hits pretty hard.
I might see if I can clearance the underside of the triples so they don't hit.

About 10mm of clearance on the left side and about 5mm on the right.
BTW, I shimmed the rear mount about 3mm.
Just to give a bit more room underneath with the pumper carb.
Just a precaution as it would have squeezed down.

RE: Question for the Clarke owners
I think there is some variation in how our bikes are built. With all the things I read on this forum, I can't believe all our bikes are built using the same fixtures because of different clearance and fitting issues of different parts. Some of the steel tubes used are pretty lightweight so, they may bend or warp a little with use adding to some fitting issues.

I am not sure you guys are looking in the right place. It doesn't hit the triples where the top fork bolts are. Its hitting up from there on the lower portion of the casting for the bar mounts.
If you don't really look close you think that the forks are hitting the stops but it is really contacting the tank.

RE: Question for the Clarke owners
I agree with Sid post about the variances in the dimensions of each individual bike. I have worked in the transit bus industry for the last 28 years and I can tell you that even thought you make a fleet purchase of 200+ buses and inspect them at the plant during manufacture, put the tape measure on one, then go to the next one they might match...try another, thatone does not match! If you look at all of the areas that the clarke tank has to deal wth dimensionaly I assume it is pretty tuff to prototype something like that and have a 100% accuracy from bike to bike!
All said and done I am happy with the clarke tank, it serves it purpose on my bike and I have had no failures.

I can't belive that you have 10mm of clearance while I have -5mm.

How about a pic?

Mine hits on both side. Just a tiny bit, but I have two little dents on each side of the tank. I am going to try and pull it back some.

If it's touching when the bike is stationary, it could have consequences in a crash.
It is very odd that every ones install seems so different.

RE: Question for the Clarke owners
It only hits at full lock and now, after some adjustments, just the left side touches and just by a rats *** hair. But still, the differences between results here tells me it is most likely a quality control issue at Clarke over mfg variances at Kawi, the range is just too great and the already documented fitting issues with the Clarke tank just adds this to the pile.
While I am glad Clarke made a tank, the fitting issues and quanlity control has put me off enough so to consider any other brand over them next time around. For the money spent, I am highly disapointed.
