Default Question bout the front sprocket.

Hi Guys,

I just rang the shop I got my bike from to get them to order in a AFAM 24502 13 tooth front sprocket.

The guy said that any 13tooth front sprocket would be ok. Is this true?

I told him what bike and he seemed pretty certain that any 13 tooth would do .

So what do you rekon? Does it NEED to be the 24502?

Thanks

Glen

I would run far far away from that parts shop then. There are very few sprockets that will fit the front of our bike. The part numbers are in the sticky post at the top of this forum.

Well thats what I thought. Hmm I have the australian version tho but I assume the sprocket would be the same.

Just threw me when he said any one would fit

But I will trust you guys and get the right one I think.

Its funny how the parts guys try and fool you into thinking they know all about this bike. I had several Gomer Pile blank looks (no offense to gomerpile here[8D]) from parts guys at several different shops. You would think that dealers would have the best information before us, but I bet they lurk in forums like these just to try and keep up. It just doesn't get any better than what we have right here, getting information and advice from guys that have tried and posted what works. Yea it just doesn't get any better than this. What an awesome group of guys and an indispensable source of information.....Uh oh...I got something in my eye again, I gotta go.

You ride a what?......WellShucks Sargent Carter I never heard of one of those.

hehe ok I rang the guy again and said that it wont fit and he is 100% sure it will and said they will fit it for free.

I said to him does it require a spacer and he said no.

As its my day off I have decided to take him up on his offer and get a free install. Plus I can laugh if it does notwork hehe.

I will let you know what happens.

The things I do when Im bored

Yeah so if it doesnt work no harm done coz Ill just get them to put the old one back on and order the part elsewhere.

Well im back with my 13 front on. Must say it does make a huge difference. Much more zippy, feels like it should.

Great for zipping around town. I recommend this mod if you havent done it.

The sprocket he put on was a JOMTHAI ASAHI 31-103-13D/03. Didn't see him put any spacers on.

Cost $19.90 AU.
