putting klx300 barrel on 2009 klx250

Yeah, but that's what all the cool kids are doing. I don't like mullets or parachute pants. Chances are, if the bore is ok, I'll get a new set of rings and run it as is until it gives me problems then have something done to it. I don't know what that'll be yet. I do like the idea of the Nikasil plating even though the KK job is friggin expensive. I don't mind that as long as it's good. There's a few local guys who do it around here. I'll sniff around and see what I can find.

I'm sure it's a little heavier. I wonder if it adds vibration? That's one nice thing about the 250 is it's smooth as a baby's ***.
Ok, what about compression ratios? What compression ratio do these different big bore kits have? I keep hearing people got the KK with the high compression and there's a guy out in NJ who can do a lower compression one for you if you like.

The motor was a 300 at one time. Run the piston. I have the 351 and the piston IS heavier, but it still works fine. I have not blown it up at 10,500 rpm.
You could weigh the stock piston and weigh yours. Just run it! I suggest you DO NOT try to lighten the piston.
Think less, ride more.

Here's another one but it's a '99. I don't know what it can fit.

99 has the same part numbers as the 2000 and up according to the Motosport website. I was watching this one and hoping no one else saw it, was able to get it for just a few dollars more than the one you won.
With almost 13k on the bike I didn't want to invest the money for a BB kit. Now to wait for it to get here and see how it really looks and measures out.

I'm looking for one for my friend. It is a different part from the one I have. I can tell from the pics because there's cored-out recesses in the thick sections where the base gasket goes. Mine is a '03 or '04 and it doesn't have that.

Manufactures make changes in parts all the time for lots of reasons from cost savings, correction of problems, to changes in subcontractors. I don't believe or can find any information that the change was to correct a problem. It's not like when BMW changed the castings on the fork leg that was failing on the F650GS's, which BMW denies existed.
