Just ride the DR more. The KLX will not feel so heavy anymore.

Even with bicycles they are not as robust. They tend to round off easier as well.

Default Another thought

Replace stock headlight and gage cluster with trailtech X2 and Vapor. Sell stock stuff to defray cost. Remove key switch and replace with a toggle.

li-ion battery -5 pounds.
exhaust - lots of pounds
renthal sprocket -1ish pounds
renthal handlebars.
remove smog stuff
are there aftermarket radiators?
plastic gas tank
smaller rims?
lowering (for lower gravity)
alloy footpegs
radical: remove airbox and retrofit a kn filter?
digital (small) speedo
not sure about chain, but I am sure there is something out there lighter than stock.

You can loose 4.5 lbs. by replacing the stock battery with a Shorai.

I have taken off all the extraneous equipment and then I added the stuff you need to go off road which put me right back at the original weight.

The KLX already has aluminum rims. Loosing body fat is an excellent cheap way to lighten the bike up.

I thought changing from the "heavy" oem exhaust to the FMF Q4 would save weight but upon picking both up at the same time, there is no significant difference. Still worth doing for the nice sound and performance but don't do it for weight.

You don't believe it, put them on a scale. OEM isn't heavy.
