Made a new bracket and it all lines up nicely...didn't have to cut the throttle cable adjuster & the throttle is easier to twist. Thanks for the pics kbekus

No-one ever claimed the pumper would make more power, the instant throttle response is the main draw card, along with easier starting being a bonus.

Brian, Bill over at thumpertalk says the Keihn is better, however for my sort of riding (and budget) I'm happy with the Mikuni. He has tried both (and of course the CVK)

Bringing this thread back for a sec... I just bought an 06 with a FCR35, 4stroke works header and a Kawi. KLX300 muffler.
The previous owner bought the carb from a guy who had it on a KLX300. Currently it runs well, there is a bit of backfiring if I chop the throttle closed, but other than that, to me it seems fine. The fact that the carb was set up for a 300 though has me wondering if its really all good..?
I have a paper with the Jetting specs, if anyone has any comments, or if anything seems way off for my 250 it would be greatly appreciated. I don't really know what a "normal" set up for a 250 would be.

here goes:
Pilot #48
Needle DVR
clip pos. 3rd from top
Main 162
fuel screw 1.5
air screw --
Main air jet 200
pilot air jet 1.25 out
spark plug stock or CR8VX

thanks!

Is the needle OCDVR? That's what FSW usually uses when he sells them. IMO you are probably lean on the pilot which is causing the popping and rich on the main. A slight amount of popping on decel is ok. I have run an FCR with a 300 and 331 so I will give you my best guess as to where I think you should start with the 250. Pilot around 50 or 52 and Main at 150 or 152 with fuel screw 1.5 out. Needle clip I would start with 3rd from top and try 4th from top as well. These specs are a starting point only and assuming the needle is OCDVR. Jetting specs will be slightly different with another needle. Below is a copy from "Burned" at Thumper Talk. This has always worked well for me but may be difficult with the electric start under the carb.

how to confirm your pilot circuit setting

seems like the most common jetting issue that comes up are pilot circuit related.the following is a sure method to choose the needed changes.

with the bike warm and idling turn the fuel screw in till the idle drops/misses.then go back out till the idle peaks/smooths.

this should happen between 1 and 2.5 turns on a fcr carb and 1 and 3 turns on a cv.

if you end up at less than 1 turn you need a smaller pilot jet.more than 2.5 (or 3 turns on a cv) you need a bigger pilot jet.

choose the appropriate size and retest.

Try a 52 pilot & 152 main, fuel screw 1.5 - 2.0 turns out, ocdvr needle 3rd clip position, same everything else @ 0 - 50' ASL. My fcr35 from FSW had 50p 150m jets.
