Default Pumper carb or Big Bore Kit

Looking for some advice, especially from folks that have contemplated/attempted the same.

I have a 2009 KLX250s. Love the bike, but want to increase power.

Some background info and parameters:

Love the fact that the bike is quiet, since I have to be stealthy where I ride.
Bike is setup with 14-48 gearing, Kenda Trackmaster rear, and Pirelli MT21 up front.
I primarily use the bike for single track, rocky jeep trails, and getting to/from such places.
Not interested at all in being able to do 80mph on the road

Now for the question.................

As a next step, would I be better off focusing on installing a TM36 pumper carb or a Big Bore Kit?

I think I can tackle the carb on my own, but would not want to tackle the installation of a big bore kit on my own.

Parts for both cost about the same....give or take $100 or so (not worried about the money too much). Really looking to understand if the $$$-to-power ratio is even close between the carb and the big bore kit.

Ultimately, I would be happy with simply being able to clear downed logs/trees without having to clutch it, just simply twisting the throttle. Also, I'm concerned about having to install an aftermarket exhaust, for noise/sound reasons as well as for maintenance (don't want to have to worry about re-packing).

Sorry for the long post, but I appreciate some guidance/expertise.

I'll vote for the big bore kit. The Bill Blue kit will work just fine with the stock carb and exhaust. You'll have more than if you put a pumper carb on the 250. Just my take on it.

The pumper carb will give you much needed snap on the trails. You can loft the front easier with no additional power. The BB kit will allow you to do the same thing with power.... and you'll be able to climb bigger hills, and cruise at a higher speed, and more lowdown luggability......

I've had both and the think the BBK simply buys you more.

big bore first. then get a pumper later.

Big bore, no question. You don't even need the pumper after you get the big bore.

Big bore first. Then when you immediate throttle response to loft the front end over obsticles get the pumper.

I get that with the stock carb. I'm sure it's super fast, but I'm also guessing the stocker is fine for the majority of riders.

i did the pumper before anything else and i really liked the result and i don't think i will bid bore it made it more of a dirtbike of how it responds

no replacement for displacement......

Ive ridden klx's with pumpers.... not worth the money IMO.
