Default Pros and Cons of the different big bore kits?

I'm probably suffering from reading too much on the forums right now. I remember reading something about the horsepower of the various big bore kits but, I cannot find it now. I'm guessing my "search fu" is weak on this site.

From what I have gathered, the 300cc upgrade is a waste at this point in time because the 331cc big bore kits are basically the same price and complexity to install. The 340cc big bore kit seems like it costs about $300 more but, installs basically the same.

What sort of power do the various engine upgrades provide for what approximate cost? I will do all the "free" upgrades on my stock engine but, after I get secure in the lower power of my new purchase, I know I will be upgrading it because I want to have some power left when I'm doing highway dashes between two points. Out where I'm at, it really isn't practical to stay completely off the Interstate which runs at a steady 80-85MPH all the time. I want to be able to run a solid 65MPH and still have some power left over for safety.

Also, what carburetor is the right match for the big bore kits? The $600 pumpers seem to be overkill because there are some good options in the $300 range. What pairings are the good ones for what sort of horsepower and cost?

If I missed the thread where this is discussed in my searches, please post a link.

Thanks in advance!

This is all completely unscientific, seat of the pants feel, my subjective judgment only, YMMV, and all that:

Does the 331 produce significantly more heat than the 300 kit?

My 340 runsabout as hot as the stock engine did with the smog crap installed. I've never had any overheating issues and my electric fan has never kicked on. Even on tight trails in 90+ degree heat, the stock radiators cooled it just fine.

Here you go...

I made the head pipe myself out of 1 1/2" stainless tubing. You can read about it here:
https://www.kawasakiforums.com/m_136166/tm.htm
https://www.kawasakiforums.com/m_138311/tm.htm

Even though I made my own head pipe, any KLX300 head pipe will work with the Supertrapp slip-on.
