proper break-in procedure question...
Pardon my ignorance, but exactly how crucial is "breaking your bike in properly"? According to the owner's manuel the first 500 miles you should not go over some ridiculously low RPM's like 4.5k, I believe? well ****, that means you can't go over 35 or 40 miles per hour? and then for the first 1000 or 1500 miles it says you should not exceed 6k...Right now I got like 1600 miles on my bike...For the first 500 miles I rode relatively "easy", but I did exceed the RPM's, haha I actually exceeded it A LOT. Basically, I really didnt pay THAT close attention to the procedures in the manual...i mean, i just used the common sense rule; in that I didnt do anything too harsh or rag it out...but i did, however, get all over her a couple times offroading...and i would cruise at 55-60 mph and kept it at RPM rev's of 7-8k for 20-50 miles at a time. but for the most part I was kind to the her. Do you think this failure tyo abide by the rules permanently ****ed my baby up? or, does the old adage "break it in like you want it to ride"(which I have seen applied by MANY users on this form, heh heh) apply more so than the textbook approach?

i just worry because from time to time my bike will like skip briefly, like the RPM rev just drops briefly? you know what im saying? it only happens like one time per riding session, maybe every other, and it is very very subtle, others probably would not even pick it up...

yeah it is BONE stock...well, except for pro taper's, acerbis full wrap around bark busters/hand guards, and scott grips.
yeah, you guys are right. i just think about **** too much sometimes. but my first mod is gonna be a pumper carb, the 600 dollar 37" FCR jant from bill blue. I have heard that at first the carb does not hit that good, but after being broken in, and upon finding the sweet spot it just absolutely RIPS thereafter. They say the 33" mikuni is good, but nothing compared to the FCR. also, according to testimonials from customers, mr. billy blue stands by the FCR 100% and says it is worth every penny more than the mikuni. i think that i will be able to get by with simply a pumper carb for a while.
