Check your carb to see if the PO ever removed the mixture screw plug. It is located on the motor side of the carb in front of the float bowl, the opening faces straight down. You will either see a round opening that allows access to the mixture screw or it will have a round plug in it to block access.

I checked but can't tell.. they really buried all the parts of this bike close together.

I always end up working on tightly packed engines Haha. That LS650 was ridiculous to remove the carb as well.

If I have access to the mixture screw, should I give it a 1/8th turn in or out maybe?

Then just check this while it's running to see if the "pre-ignition" knock is gone?

a little inspection mirror may help. The plug is difficult to tell that it is actually a plug.

agree with 2veedubs, out (counterclockwise) to richen mixture. I'd go more than 1/8 turn, like 1/2 turn and see what happens. But I'd first turn it all the way in and GENTLY seat the needle so you know how many turns out you're starting from.

If you are worried, use 92 and let the bike rev a bit more.

Oh, if the plug sits flush with the end, it's definitely open to adjustment.

It rained a lot today, I'll still try and get a sound clip tomorrow after work.

Don't want to bring my expensive camera outside in the rain.

Well I recorded it, but today of course it wants to not do it.

Maybe it was the moisture in the air the previous days? Or the remains of fuel stabilizer?

The only apparent noise I can hear is the KACR mechanism or possibly valves ticking. With the help of Mark Krieger.. maybe you can chime in with the video sound?

I am going to wait for the experts in here, but why is your engine so loud in the video? That a klx engine trait? or just where the vid was taken?
