RE: Power comparison
I think deej would make a great moderator. However deej remember you have to be tough and sometimes that means issuing temp bans and even permanent bans on members. I was a moderator and then moved to admin of a popular chevy truck forum for 5 years with over 50,000 members and its a tough thankless job but very necessary to keep order.
I wish you the best of luck deej

RE: Power comparison
hey superlee, you might look into the crf 250x as you mentioned earlier. its probably got more power than the klx and wr. or you could look at the new klx 450 they made. i read about it in a magazine and they all talked about it having tons of power but being quiet at the same time so it won't disturb people. they said the power was smooth for a 450 but also it was very powerful and fast. too bad we cant all just test ride all the bikes we want for a day. the decision would be alot easier then ha

RE: Power comparison
Thanks for the posts guys. Does anyone have a comparisionto a XR250, XR400 or WR250? And just tostraighten this out a bit, I currently ride a YZ250F,four stroke, not a YZ250 two stroke. I'm not towild about two strokes. The bikes kawiridr04 mentioned are probably the bikes I would be most interested in if I could get a Nebraska plate on one. I haveread aboutthe KLX450R and think I would like it.

RE: Power comparison
Superlee the wr250f would be the choice over the xr250. Most people are right though the klx250s is not the bike for you for the stuff you mentioned you want to do with it. In stock form with only a few mods, some gearing, and some different tiresit is a great woods/trail bike, nothing more nothing less. It will take you anywhere you want to go and have a fairly plush ride in the process. It is not a wheelie machine, it doesn't like to be jumped very high or far, and by no means is it the fastest bike on the trails. In the tight/nasty stuff it will hold its own and in a lot of cases be faster than most bikes. But if you are riding more wide open areas don't plan on keeping up with your friends with this bike. If a license plate is a must from the factory then you should be looking at the ktm and husky.

RE: Power comparison
Superlee...If I were you I would look into the husky or the KTM since you dont want to try and legalize an offroad only bike. If not I would definately do alot of research into the process of legalization and make 100% sure you can do it, otherwise your fine with the bike you have now.

RE: Power comparison
The klx dose not seem like the bike for you. The ktm 450 exc seems like the bike that will fit your needs better. A buddy at work just bought the ktm 450exc and he runs the bike at the track sometimes and dose a lot of woods riding with it. He loves it!! It has plenty of power and its reliable. I have not taken it for a ride yet but I'm sure when I do I will be heading to the nearest ktm dealer to get one..lol. The onlydown fallI can see is its a little expensive around $8.000 or so. But you know the old saying "you get what you pay for". Good Luck with your decision..
