Possible bike trade. Opinions?!
My buddy has a 2002 YZ250f with a CT street motorcycle plate on it.
We were talking yesterday, and I was saying how much I liked his bike. He mentioned how much he liked mine.. Then I said "Let's trade!" and he was totally in to it..
So, would you do it?! Would you trade a 2007 KLX351 for a YZ250 with a street plate on it?!
I am very very tempted. The YZ is super light and really snappy.. But the KLX is very reliable and full of torque... I'm pretty torn, but I don't know.
What would you do? What would baby jesus do? haha

Why don't you guys trade for a week or two and then make a decision. No commitment to the trade, just a trial run to see if it's really what you guys want.
I personally would stick with the klx though. In my opinion its a much more well rounded ride than a yz especially with the 351 kit.

That YZ would be fun, but I'd only grab that if I could have it alongside the KLX. I love mine too much to let it go. I agree with the idea that you guys swap for a week or two just so you can each get a good taste of how it would feel to be without your respective rides.

I would run screaming from a 10 year old 250 4 stroke race bike. At that time, Yamaha was the best, and way ahead of everybody, but it's still a ticking time bomb. If that bike is still running well, it's on borrowed time.

zomby's comments sound harsh, but there's a lot of reality therein. Even plated, the bikes are still really two different animals. And when you throw in some age on that competition model, you're probably looking at some serious service issues on those bikes. They produce their high power at a cost.
It's really best to have 2 bikes if you like to do hardcore singletrack in places where fuel mileage and availability aren't a concern, but you also do big rides where you have to tie in decent sections of pavement. If you really only do one type of venue, then you can get by with one bike. Currently I'm considering a pure off road bike to compliment my KLX. Riding out at our local club place with hardcore singletrack, I'd kind of like to have a KDX200 or such. When I go to Utah, Colorado, and points west, the KLX is the king of big rides.
