KLX650 hubs will fit the 2009 and also the D-tracker, so they should naturally fit the 2006 dual sport. C or R model hubs should be fine since the R model had an 18" wheel I believe.

As for the 300 or 250 jet kit no one has ever posted any #'s to back their claims. Get either one and you will be fine. I'll sell you my full Muzzy exhaust for $200. It costs $550 new.

Warp 9 will lace your hubs to some 17" rims and new spoke for around $800 or so. I still cannot believe I sold my SM wheels for my 250, then months later went and bought a KLX 650. Those wheels would have fit...ugh. I have even considered contacting the guy in Canada I sold them to and buying them back.

Looking back I would have only done the jet kit and front springs. The $550 exhaust helped, especially with the top end, but that money plus springs front and rear could have been put to a WR250 R or X.

Have fun, it's a highly capable bike, that much is for sure.

Thanks for the offer JE2000. I just bought an HMF exhaust set up. Following mods that are ordered and just waiting for the parade of delivery trucks are as follows:

HMF pipe
DJ jet
airbox lid off
new ft tire
46t rear sprocket
13t front sprocket
Race Tech springs ft/rr
10w fork oil.

I'm READY for the winter project. I'll post some pics and results afterward. Thanks for all your input and manuals!!! HUGE!!! Have a great holiday all.

FWIW, You'll need another chain for that combo, 108 links will do it. (stock is 106 links.)

OK, UPDATE!!! HUGE DIFFERENCE!!! I've never had a bike with the suspension set up for me. I run 300+ so F&R springs were a must. I was a little underwhelmed when I first got the bike "stock." It was better than the old ride but a little "eh." The HMF full exhaust and jet kit makes the bike sound MEAN!!! The suspension is F I R M though the sag is properly set. My fat *** got the front tire up in the air very easy. I haven't swapped gearing yet because the Ebay seller of the rear sprocket sucks a little and I figured I'll do the whole drivetrain at 1 time. I also replaced the ugly (ish) rear fender w/ the Maier MX fender and Baja Designs taillight. LOOKS SWEET. I kept the rear rack and just fab'd it to work and work it does. Now, I can keep my camera, toolkit in my water/shockproof box. I'm itching to ride the beast now. I live in MN and it's 4 below w/ 8 inches of snow on the ground right now so... I'm gonna have that "crack" itch until spring!!! Thanks for all the good help and insight.

I don't think the picture posted correctly. Maybe it's just me.
