Default Please help me wake my klx from the sleeping dead

Hi there,

Im new to Kawasaki Forums and I just cant seem to find any threat that could help me with my problem.
I got a 09 klx 250s and Im already bored of the weak performance, there are tons of threads reffering to planetklx for mods but planetklx seems to be down. My Question is how do I get my bike to haul *** in terms of power (for example pulling wheelies) without losing to much top speed? What did you guys do to your bikes?

The hands down best mod you can do for wheelies in any gear, and crazy power..

Sell it and get a big bore!

I'll 2nd that! Do a search on mods and you'll get plenty of info. One more thing, are you past the break-in period?

13-tooth front sprocket for starters- hands down the best mod per dollar for the little KLX if you want more noticeable power down low. It may be too low for extended highway use however. then, I'd recommend the search function. No need to rehash 3 years of discussion on this one thread.

But, in a nutshell- for more power: full exhaust, jet kit, hi-flo air filter, airbox lid removal. that will wake the bike up significantly over stock. slip-on will work, but full systems are max horsepower baby!!

don't forget the vortex throttle. doesn't seem like much until you put one on. short money too.

It's not going to happen in the conventional sense. It will never be a dirt bike, it is a mellow trail bike. But if you want to add some scoot to your ride, get a 331/340 big bore and an after market exhaust, jet your carb appropriately.

It still will not haul *** in terms of power, but it will be a fun lil street legal thumper that will put a smile on your face. If thats ok with you, the three mods I listed will add almost 50% more hp....not bad.

Welcome Flying Rider.
Cheapest mod. Remove the airbox lid. Fit a #132 mainjet, raise the OE needle 1mm with a washer/collar and set the fuel screw.
Should cost about $10.
If you have another $15 then go for a 13 tooth front sprocket.
PM me for the part numbers.

Awesome guys I wouldnt have expected this many replies in such a short time. Thank you. That already helps me alot.
To JasonFMX: this is amazing but when I was trying to get to this website there has always been some kind of error or site construction. Even better that it works now.

Thank you all for your help.

To KDXMike: I am way past my break in period :P Im afraid the stock rear tire is pretty much gone by now. 5500 km and its pretty down i need to get a new one urgently.
What would you recommend for tires?
