Default Places to ride in the Dallas/Fort Worth area?

Does anyone know where there are trails or places to ride off road in the Dallas Fort Worth area? I just got my bike lowered and would like to find some cool trails to ride.

I am sure there are some private trail parks that are around the area, but we always just head up to OK/AR into the Ouachita National Forest. There is the Wolf Pen Gap OHV trail area as well as a ton of forest service roads, and non-maintained county roads. We live in Mckinney, and it is about a 3.5 hour drive. We usually go for a weekend, set up camp, and ride.

Plenty of water-crossings:

Challenging terrain:

and nice scenery...

Hmmm. Sounds like a place I need to check out since it is close to home.

Have you checked Barnwell Mountain near Gilmer not far to the north of Tyler? It's a Texas Parks OHV place with nearly 2000 acres. I haven't been there, but I hear lots of good comments on the Two Wheeled Texas forum.

If the OP just lowered his bike, don't send him to Barnwell Mountain. It is a great place to ride, but pretty rough. Around here, I ride Rocky Ridge in Decatur, Northwest Park in Bridgeport, Red River MC trails in Muenster and Trophy Club in Flower Mound.

I'll be heading to Red River Motorcycle Trails the 30th of this month (A Saturday) for a day of riding.

I'd be more than happy to have some KF guys to ride with. I'll be on my XR650R, and my son on his KTM 200. The KLX doesn't get much of a workout anymore, unless its a Dual Sport ride.

Let me know...
