Pipe. Is it worth it?

Pipe. Is it worth it?
Wondering how much of a performance gain I will see with a pipe, filter, jet kit? I am riding a 2006 klx 250 with a 13T up front and thats it. Is it worth while to do these upgrades? Also anyone know where to order a maiers rear fender in Canada?

If you lived closer to me I would let you ride my bike, and the smile on your face would make you do the mods faster than Rossie O'Donnell running to an all you can eat buffet. Seriously! The difference between the bike I had, and the bike I have now is night and day. Take my wife's bike for instance. The 2006 XT 225 is only 25 cc's less than my bike and when they were both brand new, although I guess mine had more take off and power, with the sprockets, jetting and pipe now my bike is literally twice as fast. Its like I have nitrous. I'm just saying.

I have to sorta dissagree Deej. I think all the simple/minor mods make most of the difference. Instead of spending apx $400 for a pipe i bought a used OE KLX300 Exhaust system for $40 off craigslist. It looks factory, has a 1 & 1/2 inch exhaust hole instead of the measly 1/2 inch hole, sounds great but is knowhere near as loud as any aftermarket system. Has a built in spark arrestor. And doesn't ever need any repacking or maintainence. I also ground out the welds where the header meets the motor to open up the pipe a little more. My bike runs awesome and used the left over $360 to buy new Dunlop 606's, New tusk alum handlebars,D-flex hand guards, Shorty levers, vortex throttle and new mirrors and have lots of $ left over to play with.

Every little bit helps. The mods with a pipe meant about a gear difference climbing a hill for me. While the changes aren't earth shattering they were worth it to me. As for the after market pipe, it makes the klx sound like a motorcycle instead of a weed eater plus there is some performance gain. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

I'll have to agree with olphart I would say about a gear difference. And the sound you'll like it and you'll understand why the silly Harley dudes rev there damn bikes all the time. Becuase it's fun not because they won't idle like I thought for 20 years.
You have to do it you'll be amazed.

I think it was Punkenduro that said it, and I will agree...the factory pipe makes the bike sound like sewing machine...even an electric weed eater is louder.

This bike will be mostly used on the road with some highway commuting. Think it will help any on the highway? Riding it on the highway now I always wonder how I would get out of a speed wobble when im already wide open....

Agreed.
If you are low on cash that is a different question, but otherwise it was a night and day difference.
Honestly, I did not really like the stock bike. Now it's my fav.

I have to agree when you open the bike up and let it breath better it gives you a whole new bike, I bought the klx 300 header and can only because it was the cheaper way to go about it....the amount of money you want to spend is endless it just depends what you are looking for and how much you can afford...But even with the cheap mods that I have done to my bike it is night and day!!!

exhausts are all overpriced. Best value has got to be the KLX300 header muffler combo. Pipe / jet gives a definite improvement, but maybe not as dramatic as some state. All said, I'm glad I got mine. Some more power, and better sound. Hey it's only money
