Probably go 2.5 turns out too. After reading maybe i should get a 38 pilot just to be safe?
I think you got it backwards. If you need to be at 2.5 turns with a 40 pilot, then why would you want to go down in size?

The general rule is:

If you need to go more than 2.5 turns out, then you need to go one size up on the pilot.

If you need to go less than 0.5 turns out, then you need to go one size down on the pilot.

Awesome I didnt know that, thanks! I'll probably just stick with the stock then at first to try it out and go from there.

FMF makes a power up jet kit for the KLX300 which will work just fine on the 250s. Just jet a little lower. It comes with 4 jets, needle springs, ETC. Price is 59.95 plus shipping.
Huge waste of money, I got all kawi parts and it didnt cost that much and I got the #40 pilot. I guess the kit is good if you wanna try different main jets, otherwise its useless.

The Dynojet needle is far more aggressive than the NTIC & has a dual taper. Equal, no. Waste of money? Not to me.
